Injustice 2 UPDATE 3
The Injustice stream is now live and it appears we’re kicking things off with the Celebrity Charity Competition between DJs Steve Aoki and Don Diablo.
This will be a best-of-five contest between the two world famous DJ’s.
It’s 2 games to 1 at the moment with Aoki dominating Don Diablo, but hopefully, it won’t be too much longer before we get to see that Fighter Pack 2 DLC reveal trailer.
Injustice 2 UPDATE 2
There are now less than 30 minutes to go until the start of today’s Injustice 2 livestream where the next three DLC characters from the second Fighter Pack will be revealed.
But, we spotted an Xbox One X update some fans might have missed from earlier this week which is well worth mentioning for Injustice 2 players on Xbox.
Injustice 2 is set to receive a free 4K upgrade on Xbox One X when the console launches this November.
It means that the Highest resolution available for the game on Xbox One X will be 2160p, as opposed to the 1440p on PS4 Pro.
Good to know for any players looking to upgrade to the worlds most powerful console later this year.
For those interested to know more about how the game looks on multiple consoles, take a look at the Digital Foundry video below.
For now though let’s hope Ed Boon and the team at NetherRealm have got a great Injustice 2 reveal planned on the livestream.
Injustice 2 UPDATE 1
NetherRealm will be showcasing the games new Injustice 2 Fighter Pack 2 DLC later today and you can watch all the footage live using the Twitch stream above when the event gets started at 11AM.
However, for fans of the wider Injustice lore looking for something to do to fill the time until Ed Boon and the team unveil three new fighters, you can’t got wrong with taking a sneak peak at some new images from the forthcoming issue of the Injustice 2 comic series.
Comicbook.com has got their hands on a number of panels and have done a rough breakdown of what fans can expect from the new issue.
“In issue #20, we see that Batman gets heavily involved in the action, not only having to face off against a powerful new adversary but also finding himself in a compromising position against Wildcat.”
We won’t say anymore as we don’t want to give away any spoilers, but it’s looking like a good issue for sure and worth checking out while we wait for our next three DLC characters to be revealed later today.
Stay tuned for updates.
Injustice 2 is all set to reveal the games next Fighter Pack 2 DLC in the next 24 hours, as NetherRealm looks to continue the good work already achieved with the release of the games first Fighter Pack DLC.
The next three PS4 and Xbox One characters are set to be revealed as part of a Charity livestream on Twitch tomorrow, Wednesday, August 23.
As such, Injustice fans shouldn’t expect the same experience from the usual WatchTower streams that most players will have become accustomed too.
Equally, unlike WatchTower streams, you’ll have to tune in much earlier than the usual 9PM BST start time.
Instead, this reveal from Gamescom will begin at 3am PST – 6am ET – 11am BST and hosted on the NetherRealm Twitch channel which you can watch using the stream above.
It’s not known if the unveiling of the three new characters will come at the beginning or the end of the stream, but we can guarantee there will be a Celebrity Charity Competition between DJs Steve Aoki and Don Diablo, with the two will facing off in a best-of-five contest.
Who these characters could be is anyone’s guess, not because fans don’t have several very good theories, but because there are quite literally too many possibilities based on what we’ve been teased from images, director Ed Boon and leaks.
Another complication is the fact Ed Boon has already dropped a BIG teaser in the lead up to Gamescom, with a tweet that read “GamesCom. #Injustice2 #FighterPack2”.
The only problem was that the image was completely black, which you might think is useless but, after tweaking the brightness and contrast fans discovered a small clue hiding behind the image.
You can see the image below with the settings dialled up to the max, showing … something.
“I’m still sceptical about that glimpse of purple though..” one fan tweeted.
“Why are people saying this looks like Grundy and this looks like doomsday? I LITERALLY see rubble and cement blocks” another responded.”
“There is like a purple foot or something in the middle.” an eagle-eyed fan spotted.
You can take a look at the image below to see for yourself, but best of luck trying to decipher anything from it.
Hopefully, though, Boon and co will have more teasers for the fans in the coming days.
In the meantime though, we’re in no short supply of possible characters who could be included in the games upcoming Fighter Pack 2.
Because after plenty of teases from Creative Director Ed Boon in the last few months, we’re in no short supply of possible DC Comic book and Mortal Kombat characters who could be coming to the game.
We’ve rounded up some of the most believable and concrete rumours and suggestions in the gallery at the top of the page, which includes the likes of Black Manta, Plastic Man, John Constantine, The Atom as well as Mortal Kombat characters like Raiden and Cyrax.
For more detailed info, take a look at this Injustice 2 DLC story we put together.
However, in true Injustice 2 fashion, the latest Starfire gameplay footage, released by NetherRealm, also made one incredibly obscure DC Comics character reference.
In the small clip, which you can watch here, we see Robin and Starfire going at it and get, naturally, some new dialogue from the two characters.
The line that’s really interesting is when Starfire claims that “not even Trigon could take my heat.”
In lieu of our limited comic book knowledge, we’ll turn this one over to the experts at comicbook.com, who write:
“Trigon is a fairly obscure reference, though the demon does play a pretty prominent role within the Teen Titans canon as Starfire’s one-time captor and Raven’s father.
“It’s a name that we haven’t heard in a while, and we can’t help but wonder if Trigon may eventually make it into the game. Oh yeah, you guys know exactly what picture we’re about to come back to.”
And when once again referring to the silhouette image that everyone keeps looking to when trying to decide which other characters are coming to the game, the site claimed:
“There are a number of silhouettes that could belong to Trigon if you use your imagination. His horns could be hidden by the giant hat that we assume belongs to Raiden; it wouldn’t be the first time NetherRealm trolled its fans with silhouettes.
“He could also be any of the hulking humanoid shapes as well. A bowed head and cloak can work wonders.”
For those wondering what the site means by NetherRealm trolling fans with silhouettes, the site is referring famously to the situation that occurred during Mortal Kombat X.
When the game was still at the height of its popularity, the second character pack came with a silhouette which unmistakably included Baraka, a staple character in the franchise.
Instead, when the full reveal came, an alien burst out of his chest, and the playable character was instead revealed to be a Xenomorph, from the Alien film franchise.
So, now you can understand why everyone needs to take a pinch of salt with every small hint, tease and clue as to which characters are coming to the game next.
Hopefully, though, we won’t have to wait too much longer before we find out.
